Yes he was a drug addict and had issues. I met him at the Henwood Treatment Center outside Edmonton in the spring of 1990. He hung out with me every day during the time he was there. He had nothing to gain from hanging out with and being nice to a skinny nothing runt of an addict like me. John was good to me and at heart he was a good guy. On the day he left he walked over to where I was sitting and gently gave me a fist to the chin and said "Take care buddy!" He was an addict, he had demons, and no one but his family and friends gave a shit because he was a commodity! I had the chance to make a great shot of John. Later at the forum, I went to the Canadiens's blood clinic whit the picture of John. He was there at the same time as me and I handed him my photo wich he signed, I talked to him a bit and left. His death was a shock to me. RIP my hero !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28304287.post-21377318650304232932012-01-20T12:33:57.642-08:002012-01-20T12:33:57.642-08:00more than just a fighter....rip john!more than just a fighter....rip john!thundernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28304287.post-76250173363421969052011-03-15T08:02:30.339-07:002011-03-15T08:02:30.339-07:00At last! You finally got an article on John.Thanx!...At last! You finally got an article on John.Thanx!
The content is perhaps more focused on fights and drug issues than John's human qualities but for most of people,he was known as a truculent enforcer.
Not for me,he was kind and fun to talk with.
You'll never be forgotten,Johnny!somethingkeepernoreply@blogger.com
